About Me

If you had asked 16-year-old me if I would ever be a therapist, I would have laughed in your face. When I later did decide to become a therapist, I set out to be the kind of person teenage me would have talked to.

I have almost 20 years of experience in working with teens and young adults, LGBTQIA+ folx, people living with complex trauma, and neurodivergent folk. While I am not an expert in every area that I'm interested in, I'm at a point in my career where I have to be picky about my continuing education so that I'm not bored. I'm always learning and searching for more information for myself and for my clients.

I approach a lot of my work and writing from an anthropology/sociology lens, looking at all the different systems that shape our experiences, thoughts, responses and expectations. The answer to many versions of "why?" is usually "white supremacy", "the patriarchy", and/or "capitalism". Many of these articles are going to be distillations of what I've been talking to my clients about. In general, there are themes that tend to emerge and I'll find myself having similar conversations over and over again with vastly different clients.

I'm originally from New Hampshire, and spent 6 years living near Boston during and after graduate school. Outside of work, I spend time with my family, including wrangling my two young children and 2 mischievous black cats. In order to balance the stress of therapy, I enjoy weight lifting, yoga, contra dancing, and attempting to manage my garden.
